About the Symposium
The IMWBN Inaugural Symposium is a two-day global online event bringing together researchers, practitioners and stakeholders from across the international marine wood-borer community.
The symposium will showcase the breadth of current marine wood-borer research through keynote and plenary presentations, invited scientific talks, themed networking and interactive discussions.
Across the two days, the programme will explore three broad themes:
Biology, biodiversity, ecology and deep history
Infrastructure, heritage, environmental change and socio-economic impacts
Symbiosis, biotechnology, blue food and future research priorities
The meeting is intended both to showcase current research and to strengthen connections across the international community working on marine wood-borers and their wider ecological, economic and applied significance.
